It has been a busy year for everyone at UNIS and much of the time for Helping Hands has been in planning this year's Grade Level Trip. As in previous years, our focus for Sin Chai Primary School was to create a series of art activities for the local H'mong children and a Service project. This year the art activity for the children at the school was to create photo frames which would be sold at the annual UNIS Spring Fair in Hanoi to raise funds for the primary school.
The Service goal for the trip was quite ambitious and really aimed at trying to embed Helping Hands as a sustainable Service programme at UNIS. Students were involved in interviews with teachers and children to try and assess the needs of the school. They also took measurements of the school with the aim to build a scale model of the school to help future Service groups. They also encouraged the Primary school children to design improvements that they would to see to their school.
We were blessed with surprisingly sunny weather albeit with a cold wind, but it didn't stop everyone enjoying themselves.
